When to choose manual installation

While the grommunio Appliance delivers a comprehensive solution for the majority of installations, some special requirements may not be possible to satisfy with the appliance approach. For these cases, the grommunio base system and core groupware can be installed manually with guidance.

Please note: Manual installation is only recommended for adept administrators who are experienced in advanced Linux administration and configuration.

Before you start, please check the Minimum Requirements in the Admin Documentation to ensure your system meets the hardware and software prerequisites.

Getting started

Manual installation overview

A high-level guide to manually installing grommunio. Refer to the Admin Documentation for full step-by-step instructions.

  1. Check minimum requirements

    Review hardware requirements, supported Linux distributions, and network prerequisites in the Admin Documentation.

  2. Add the grommunio repository

    Add the appropriate grommunio package repository for your Linux distribution from download.grommunio.com.

  3. Install grommunio base system

    Install the grommunio base system package and its dependencies using your distribution's package manager.

  4. Install grommunio core

    Install the grommunio core (groupware) components and configure them following the Admin Documentation.

  5. Post-install configuration

    Complete the post-installation setup including mail routing, TLS certificates, and initial domain configuration.
